Synopsis

คริสเตียน เบเกอร์ นักข่าวหนุ่มชาวนิวยอร์กจาก The Chronicle ได้รับมอบหมายให้เขียนบทความสังคมเกี่ยวกับการหายตัวไปของ Monique Watson เด็กหญิงผิวสีวัย 12 ปีจากบรู๊คลิน เขาพยายามทำภารกิจให้สำเร็จ แต่กลับค้นคว้าเรื่องราวอย่างรวดเร็วและไม่ดีนัก และเลือกใช้แนวทางแรก เรื่องนี้ทำให้เกิดความเจ็บปวดขึ้นหลายประการ คริสเตียนรู้สึกผิดและตัดสินใจที่จะทำงานให้เสร็จในที่สุด โดยพบว่าตัวเองต้องแข่งกับเวลาเพื่อช่วยครอบครัวตามหาเด็กหญิง
